A study at Monash University in Australia showed that a 12-week run-walk interval training program effectively reduced pain and disability in adults with chronic low back pain. The program, delivered digitally and remotely, also proved to be safe and acceptable. Over 40 participants saw improvements in pain intensity and physical function, with no severe adverse effects reported. The study suggests that running can be a beneficial treatment option for chronic LBP, contradicting common concerns about injury risk. The results highlight the potential for a run-walk program to be a viable and accessible strategy for managing chronic low back pain.
