A study published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice found that there are significant disparities in the treatment of peanut allergies among patients. Black patients with peanut allergies are less likely to receive oral immunotherapy compared to white patients. Patients with private insurance were more likely to receive oral immunotherapy. The study analyzed data from 1,028 peanut-allergic patients and found that Black race and economic factors were associated with lower participation in oral immunotherapy. The results suggest the need for efforts to ensure equitable care for all patients and to address and close these disparities.
