A study from the CorEvitas Psoriasis Registry found that Black patients with psoriasis are less likely to switch biologic therapies compared to other racial and ethnic groups. Response rates with biologics were similar across groups, but treatment patterns differed. The study compared discontinuation and switching rates in diverse racial/ethnic groups and found that Black patients were 57% less likely to switch therapies compared to White patients. Reasons for this difference could include unfamiliarity with biologics, representation in clinical research, and variations in psoriasis presentations. The study’s authors suggest different management strategies may be needed for patients of different race/ethnicity. Limitations include small sample sizes in non-White groups.
