Data Protection Commission to investigate HSE over online videos of medical records

admin

The Data Protection Commission (DPC) is investigating the HSE for breaches of security after videos showed personal data in paper records being stored in external facilities. The DPC is specifically concerned with the storage and retention of personal data in paper records held by the HSE in external storage facilities. The breaches involved unauthorized access to two specific locations and the circulation of videos showing patient records. The HSE takes data breaches seriously and manages them in line with data protection legislation. The DPC’s annual report for 2023 includes fines imposed on Centric Health and the Department of Health for data protection violations.
