A study published in the Journal of Internal Medicine found that women who conceive through infertility treatment have a higher risk of developing heart disease compared to those who conceive naturally. The risk of hospitalization for heart disease within a year post-delivery is 2.16 times higher in women who underwent infertility treatment, particularly those with high blood pressure. The study, based on analysis of 31 million hospital discharges, suggests the importance of postpartum checkups for these patients. The underlying reasons for the increased risk are not clear, but further research is needed to understand the relationship between infertility treatment and cardiovascular health.
