A study found that men and those living in high human development index areas had a higher global lifetime risk for lung cancer development and mortality in 2022 compared to women and those in low HDI areas. The global lifetime risk for developing lung cancer was higher than the risk of dying from it. The risk increased with higher levels of HDI, indicating a correlation between socioeconomic development and lung cancer risk. Men had a greater risk than women for both developing and dying from lung cancer. The findings provide important data for healthcare planning and interventions for lung cancer control.
