Traditional mastectomy surgery as effective as using newer devices, research finds

A study conducted in Ireland found that a traditional method of mastectomy surgery for breast cancer is as safe and effective as newer technologies, with no significant difference in outcomes for patients. The research compared two types of electrosurgical devices commonly used during mastectomy. The study, conducted at the RCSI Beaumont Cancer Centre, showed that the long-established method is as safe and cost-effective as the newer device. The findings are relevant not only for mastectomy surgery but also for other general surgeries. The study was published in the British Journal of Surgery and aims to ensure the best outcomes for cancer patients.
