Andrea Stephany founded OncoSwab after her mother faced a 15-month delay in getting a lung cancer scan. The startup aims to develop a simpler and faster detection test using a nasal swab. Inspired by a hackathon, OncoSwab uses biomarkers in the air to detect lung cancer. Similar companies, like Breathe Biomedical, are also developing breath analysis tests for cancer detection. OncoSwab plans to expand to other diseases in the future. The company has received pre-seed financing and is currently seeking additional funding for clinical research. If successful, OncoSwab could offer a more efficient way to detect lung cancer and potentially save lives.
