More than 70 organizations, led by Families USA, are urging Congress to extend the enhanced premium tax credits set to expire in 2025. These premium tax credits, introduced in 2021, have reduced health insurance premiums for many individuals purchasing coverage through the marketplace. The tax credit lowers the out-of-pocket costs of health insurance premiums for those receiving insurance via marketplaces, and the American Rescue Plan Act expanded eligibility. If the credits expire, older and rural households will be impacted, with premiums doubling for many and millions losing coverage. A new survey found that 86% of voters support extending the credits.
