The BMA’s Scottish General Practitioners Committee (SGPC) is demanding action from the Scottish government to prevent GPs from going on strike. They are responding to motions passed at a recent conference, which highlighted years of underinvestment in general practice and stagnant pay for GPs. The committee has produced a position statement outlining their concerns and warning that they will ballot GPs on industrial action if the government does not take steps to support general practice. They are prepared to “ramp up” preparations for a potential strike if necessary.
