By 2030, radiologists predict that generative AI will be widely used in their written work. Medical imaging is already incorporating AI, with algorithms analyzing CT scans, MRIs, and X-rays, making up a majority of AI-based devices approved by the FDA. At the Radiological Society of North America meeting, large language models (LLMs) were highlighted as the next generation of AI in radiology, particularly focusing on streamlining radiology documentation. Radiologist George Lee Shih believes LLMs will become powerful tools, potentially being able to read minds in the future. The event showcased products utilizing LLMs and facilitated discussions on the future of AI in radiology reports.
