1 dead in multistate outbreak of E. coli linked to organic carrots

A multistate outbreak of E. coli linked to organic carrots has sickened 39 people in 18 states, leading to one death and 15 hospitalizations. The CDC identified 18 brands of organic whole bagged carrots and baby carrots sold by Grimmway Farms as the source of the infections. Recalled products include baby organic carrots and whole organic carrots with specific purchase dates. The CDC advised throwing out or returning the recalled carrots and warned of severe symptoms of E. coli infection. Cases have been reported in multiple states, and the investigation is ongoing.
