Sexual safety campaigners have written to the health secretary Wes Streeting to address the issue of sexual assault and abuse of medical students at university and during clinical placements. Co-founders of Surviving in Scrubs, Becky Cox and Chelcie Jewitt, are urging for robust action to be taken to protect medical students from sexism and sexual violence. The campaign group has collected over 200 testimonies of sexual abuse and assault of healthcare staff, including students. They have also reached out to all 47 UK medical schools for support in tackling this problem. Overall, they are calling for greater awareness and prevention measures to ensure the safety of medical students.
