Insulin resistance is associated with 31 diseases and higher odds of early death in women, according to a study presented at the EASD conference. This condition, linked to type 2 diabetes, has connections to conditions like Parkinson’s disease, gout, and sciatica. The study analyzed data from over 400,000 participants and found that insulin resistance was a risk factor for various diseases, including sleep disorders, bacterial infections, and pancreatitis. Lifestyle factors like excess weight and lack of physical activity contribute to insulin resistance. Early intervention measures to improve metabolic health could help reduce the risk of developing these diseases.
