Sara McGinnis experienced a fatal stroke due to eclampsia during her second pregnancy, highlighting the dangers of high blood pressure in expecting mothers. Recent studies show the rates of maternal high blood pressure have doubled since 2007, leading to an increase in maternal mortality. Black and Indigenous people are at higher risk. Effective monitoring and treatment guidelines have been implemented to address this issue.
