Boston-based Uwill has acquired Virtual Care Group, a telehealth platform for students, to expand its mental health services for colleges. Uwill offers on-demand access to therapists and crisis counseling, as well as online wellness events. Virtual Care Group, based in Los Angeles, matches providers with students and faculty for mental and physical health support, currently serving over 100 colleges. The acquisition expands Uwill’s reach to 400 colleges globally. Uwill received $30 million in funding last year and previously partnered with Headspace. The digital mental health sector in higher education is growing, with companies like Mantra Health also raising significant funding.
