The study published in JAMA Health Forum found that most phase 2/phase 3 oncology clinical trials do not report data on American Indian/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Black or African American, and Hispanic individuals. The representation of these groups in published clinical trials was low, with zero representation for American Indian/Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian populations. Researchers highlighted the need for improvements in including diverse populations in clinical trials to address health disparities. They also emphasized the importance of a culturally competent and diverse workforce to engage indigenous populations and improve health outcomes for marginalized communities.
