Countries are working to finalize a global agreement on pandemic preparedness and response. The draft agreement includes five key sections: Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing System (PABS), Prevention and Surveillance, Financing, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Vaccine Mandates and Lockdowns. The PABS system aims to facilitate the sharing of pathogen data with pharmaceutical companies for rapid development of pandemic-fighting products. Negotiators are also discussing strengthening prevention and surveillance capacities, sustainable financing, equitable access to health products, and clarifying the WHO’s authority over national health policies. The goal is to ensure countries are better prepared for future pandemics and can respond effectively.
