Genetically engineering skin bacteria to fight cancer

Researchers have discovered a new way to fight cancer by using genetically engineered bacteria that live on the skin. By inserting a tumor antigen into the bacteria, they were able to stimulate the immune system to produce killer T cells that target cancer cells. This led to the elimination of tumors in mice without causing any inflammation. The bacteria, normally found on healthy skin, trigger the production of immune cells responsible for battling infections and cancer.
