Congress is close to finalizing a deal to regulate pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) as part of a government funding package. This deal includes funding for public health programs, expansion of telehealth services, and significant changes to PBMs. The pharmaceutical industry has been pushing for these changes, especially after Democrats passed a drug pricing law in 2022. The industry spent millions on advertising to promote PBM legislation and is likely to get most of what it wanted. The language of the funding package has not been publicly released yet and could still undergo changes before final approval.
