More than 400 people have been hospitalized with the flu this winter season, with three deaths reported. The number of flu cases has almost doubled in a week, with 529 cases reported in the last week of November. The HSE is urging eligible individuals to get their winter vaccines to protect against the flu and Covid-19. Last winter, over 4,000 people were hospitalized with the flu and approximately 7,000 with Covid-19. Health officials emphasize the importance of reducing the spread of infection by getting vaccinated, staying home if sick, practicing good hygiene, and following respiratory etiquette. Vaccination clinics are available at participating GPs and pharmacies.
