The UK government has implemented an indefinite ban on the use of puberty blockers for individuals under 18 with gender dysphoria due to safety concerns. This decision follows the advice of the Commission on Human Medicines. Emergency measures introduced last May to temporarily ban puberty suppressing hormones have now been extended indefinitely. The ban came after a review by Hilary Cass, former president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, highlighted the lack of evidence supporting the use of these treatments for young people with gender dysphoria.
