The FDA and CDC have issued an alert about a salmonella outbreak linked to contaminated cucumbers that has sickened dozens across 19 states. Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps and is transmitted through contaminated food or water. The outbreak, linked to cucumbers from SunFed Produce, LLC, has affected 68 people, with 18 hospitalized. The contamination is linked to cucumbers sold between Oct. 12, 2024, and Nov. 26, 2024, in multiple states. The public is advised to avoid consuming any contaminated cucumbers still in their refrigerators and retailers are asked to discard recalled products and notify customers of the recall.
