A study comparing the application of a triple-combination gel for acne, including clindamycin phosphate, adapalene, and benzoyl peroxide, to the traditional layering technique found that the gel was more evenly applied in 100% of cases. The FDA approved this gel on Oct. 20, 2023. Dermatologist Zoe Diana Draelos stated that the triple-combination gel addresses the major pillars of acne treatment. Patients in the study preferred the gel over the layering technique due to its uniformity, ease, and speed of use. This study suggests that using combination products like this gel may be more effective than applying multiple individual acne medications.
