COVID-19-associated invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA) is a serious new threat to critically ill COVID-19 patients. A small study at Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón in Madrid found a 100% mortality rate among patients with CAPA. The disease is not well understood but is proving to be severe for those with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Overall, CAPA has emerged as a significant complication of COVID-19 and requires further research to better understand and treat this condition.
