A survey conducted by The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center shows that pancreatic cancer rates are increasing among people under age 50, but many still believe it only affects the elderly. More than half of adults under 50 are unaware of the early signs of the disease and believe there is nothing they can do to reduce their risk. Maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding alcohol, exercising regularly, and following a plant-based diet can help reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer. Researchers are working on identifying ways to screen for the disease early and are studying the impact of lifestyle factors on risk reduction.
