A recent study found that even a single 30-minute session of jogging can reduce type 2 diabetes risk factors in healthy adults. The study examined 32 participants who were not diabetic and not on medication, showing a significant reduction in plasma glucose levels and improved insulin sensitivity 24 hours after the exercise. The results also suggested an improvement in beta cell function. This study, published in the Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, is unique as it focused on the immediate impact of exercise on diabetes risk. The researchers concluded that exercise could have a direct effect on type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk.
