The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for adults aged 65 years and older, as well as individuals who are moderately or severely immunocompromised. They also suggested lowering the age for routine pneumococcal conjugate vaccination to 50 years. These recommendations are pending approval from CDC Director Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH. The committee also discussed low COVID-19 vaccination rates and the decline in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. Additionally, they recommended a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine for all individuals aged 50 years or older who have not received one before.
