Brian Wilkey was born in Bristol in 1934 and attended Bristol Grammar School before studying at Exeter College, Oxford. He continued his medical career at University College Hospital and later worked as a consultant anaesthetist at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Wilkey also helped set up the obstetric anaesthetic service at Mill Road and Rosie maternity hospitals. He retired from medical practice in 2009 and enjoyed pursuing his interests in music, gardening, and walking holidays in Europe. Wilkey is survived by his wife Ailsa and two children.
