The IHCA annual conference highlighted a ‘connectivity gap’ between leadership and healthcare teams, with over half of consultants feeling their working environment lacks mutual support. The survey found that consultants often feel overwhelmed and lack access to necessary resources. While the majority of consultants believe in collaborative leadership, only a small percentage feel management seeks their input in decision-making. Despite challenges, most consultants feel they make a valuable contribution to patient care. IHCA president Prof Gabrielle Colleran emphasized the need for compassionate and collaborative leadership to address the challenges in healthcare. A recent survey by IHCA underscored the need for leaders to be more connected to their teams.
