Researchers are making progress in developing male birth control through a gel called NES/T that suppresses sperm production. The gel, applied daily to the shoulders, has shown promising results in early trials, with 86% of participants reaching effective contraception levels. The unique combination of hormones in the gel allows for lower testosterone levels and minimal side effects. A Phase IIb trial is currently underway to assess the gel’s effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. This advancement in male contraception could lead to more reproductive options for couples and empower men to share the responsibility of family planning.
