Rwanda is deploying a vaccine trial for Marburg hemorrhagic fever, with 700 doses received from the U.S.-based Sabin Vaccine Institute. The outbreak has resulted in 12 deaths, with 46 confirmed cases and 29 individuals in isolation. The Marburg virus, similar to Ebola, is spread through close contact with infected individuals. Symptoms include fever, muscle pains, diarrhea, and vomiting, with a high fatality rate. Health workers and those in contact with confirmed cases will be targeted for vaccination. The outbreak, which began on Sept. 27, has prompted strict measures and precautions to prevent the further spread of the virus.
