The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is hosting its annual conference today, with increased demand for services due to the efforts of the late journalist Charlie Bird. More than 600 families with MND were supported last year. The IMNDA works closely with the government and healthcare professionals to advocate for increased resources. The conference will discuss the latest research and treatment options for MND, including a €10 million research program aimed at finding a cure. The focus is on improving clinical outcomes, reducing symptoms, and increasing life expectancy for MND patients. The conference will also address the psychological impact of the disease and the experience of caregivers.
