A new study presented at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress in Vienna reveals that women with asthma have an increased risk of miscarriage and fertility issues. The study found that women with asthma were more likely to experience miscarriage and require fertility treatment to conceive, compared to those without asthma. However, the study also showed that after fertility treatment, the number of live births was the same for women with or without asthma. The researchers suggest that effective asthma control is important for improving reproductive outcomes in women with asthma. The study analyzed more than 750,000 women born in Denmark between 1976 and 1999, following them for around 20 years.
