The Dillon Quirke Foundation, established to prevent young people from dying of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), has conducted cardiac screenings for over 7,000 young individuals across all counties in Ireland in partnership with sports clubs. The charity, founded in memory of Tipperary hurler Dillon Quirke, aims to raise awareness of cardiac screening’s importance and provide screening opportunities nationwide. A small percentage of those screened have been recommended for further cardiac testing. The foundation, approaching Dillon’s second anniversary, has already completed 70% of its goal to screen 10,000 young people in 2024. The Quirke family will commemorate Dillon’s anniversary with a mass in Tipperary.
