Can Fish Oil Benefit Older Adult Brains? Here’s What Study Says

admin

A study at Oregon Health & Science University found that older adults with a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s may benefit from regular fish oil use. However, the general population of older adults did not experience the same advantages. The study included 102 participants aged 75 or older with low levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Over three years, there was no significant difference in brain health between those who took fish oil and those who took a placebo. The researchers suggest that future studies with a more diverse population will provide a clearer understanding of the potential benefits of fish oil for brain health in older adults.
