Diabetes drugs like Ozempic lower cancer risks: Study

admin

A recent study published in the journal JAMA found that diabetes medications like GLP-1 agonists, including the popular drug Ozempic, can reduce the risk of developing certain obesity-related cancers. Patients with Type 2 diabetes treated with these medications had a lower risk of developing 10 out of 13 cancers studied, such as kidney, pancreatic, esophageal, ovarian, liver, and colorectal cancer. This study suggests that GLP-1 agonists could potentially break the link between obesity and cancer. The findings may lead doctors to consider prescribing these drugs to diabetes patients instead of insulin, as they offer significant weight loss effects.
