The CDC has launched a vaccination campaign promoting updated COVID and flu shots for the fall and winter seasons. The recommendation is for everyone aged 6 months and older, regardless of previous vaccination status. The current spike in COVID cases is modest compared to past summer waves, with California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii reporting the highest positive test rates. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 reduces the chance of severe outcomes and Long COVID. Individuals can receive both vaccines at the same visit, with most only requiring one flu shot per season. The CDC suggests most people get the flu vaccine in September or October, with exceptions for certain groups.
