A study found that individuals with poor mental abilities in their teenage years are at a triple risk of stroke by age 50. A stroke is a sudden emergency that disrupts blood flow to the brain, impacting speech, movement, and other functions. The study analyzed data from 1.7 million young Israelis who underwent cognitive tests before military service. Those with low to medium mental abilities were more likely to have a stroke before age 50, with a higher incidence of ischemic stroke. The study suggests a link between cognitive function in adolescence and the risk of early-onset stroke, but does not establish a cause and effect relationship.
