From September 2025, a new law will ban the sale of tobacco and e-cigarettes through vending machines in Ireland. Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly announced the prohibition as part of ongoing efforts to protect the population from the health risks of tobacco products. The ban aims to denormalize the sale of these harmful products and restrict their availability and advertising. The move is in line with Ireland’s national tobacco control policy and WHO guidelines on tobacco advertising. Similar bans have already been implemented in other countries. The law also includes provisions to protect children from exposure to tobacco and nicotine products in various settings.
