Nuance Medical has acquired Biocorneum, a silicone gel scar treatment brand, the company announced in a press release.
Previously owned by Sientra, the scar treatment will be added to Nuance’s portfolio, Biodermis, which specializes in silicone scar management products. According to the release, this acquisition will go into effect immediately.
“Bringing Biocorneum into the Biodermis family marks a significant step in our journey to lead with innovative and impactful treatments in scar management,” Mark Steele, president of Nuance Medical, said in the release. “This acquisition integrates Biocorneum’s strong presence in the professional health care sector with Biodermis’ comprehensive range of silicone scar management products. We are excited about the combined capabilities this brings and the enhanced benefits it offers to our health care partners and their patients.”
According to the release, Biodermis has been recognized as a leader of medical-grade silicone treatments for more than 30 years.
