Tallaght University Hospital is introducing GaitKeeper, a new smartphone app powered by artificial intelligence that can assess gait and help diagnose conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. The app is being rolled out among doctors and patients at the hospital and is able to detect early symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. GaitKeeper collects data on walking speed, support base, and other measures to gauge frailty status and identify risks of falls and overall functional decline. The app was developed in collaboration with Dublin City University and is now available for purchase through Digital Gait Labs.
