The World Health Organization has launched a new generative AI assistant called S.A.R.A.H., which provides information on various health topics in eight languages. The AI assistant can help users with lifestyle habits, mental health, quitting tobacco, and managing diseases like cancer and heart disease. S.A.R.A.H. operates on Soul Machine’s Biological AI platform, offering real-time and empathetic responses. WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus sees the potential of AI in improving access to health information and narrowing health inequities. Other initiatives, such as the Access Initiative for Quitting Tobacco and the NIH’s Bridge2AI program, are also leveraging AI technology to advance healthcare research and services.
