Fatima Hassan and colleagues from the Health Justice Initiative in South Africa argue that the global health community must speak out against the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. The deliberate destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis, with thousands of civilians, including children, being killed. The ongoing attacks and blockade have left the population without access to proper healthcare, leading to preventable deaths and a rise in infectious disease epidemics. The global health community must demand an immediate ceasefire, support the reconstruction of Gaza’s health system and infrastructure, and provide humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza.
