Pelvic floor disorders can impact sexual activity in women, particularly those who are menopausal or have recently experienced symptoms. A study conducted by researchers at St. Olavs Hospital, NTNU, and the University Hospital of Northern Norway found that sexually inactive women with pelvic floor disorders are more likely to experience colorectal-anal distress, affecting their sex life significantly. The study suggests that health professionals should discuss sexual function with women experiencing these disorders, especially those with bowel problems. However, the reliability of the study results was limited due to low response rates and reluctance to answer personal questions about sexual health.
