Nearly a dozen babies in Spain have been diagnosed with Hypertrichosis, also known as “Werewolf Syndrome,” which causes excessive hair growth on the body. The condition is believed to have been triggered by the use of a hair loss medication by the parents. The babies may have been exposed to the drug through direct skin contact or contaminated surfaces. The symptoms subsided after the babies stopped contact with the medication. Hypertrichosis can also be caused by factors such as genetic mutations, medications, autoimmune disorders, or malnutrition. Minoxidil, the medication in question, is commonly used to promote hair growth but can have side effects if absorbed through the skin.
