Since 2017, the University of Galway has been hosting an annual Sensory Friendly Santa’s Grotto event for children with additional needs. This year, more than 40 families were given the opportunity to visit Santa in a sensory-friendly environment, created by staff and students from the School of Psychology. The event aims to give children with additional needs a magical Christmas experience and plans to provide a guide on running similar events to encourage inclusivity in other organizations. The event coordinators also collected donations for COPE’s Christmas appeal, showing support for those in need during the holiday season.
