A study found that parents of children with atopic dermatitis (AD) are less likely to get the recommended 7 hours of sleep and rely more on sleep medications. Data from the National Health Interview Survey showed that parents of children with AD were more likely to not meet the sleep recommendation and use sleep aids compared to parents of children without AD. Factors such as age, race, and gender also played a role in sleep patterns and medication use. The study highlights the indirect burden of AD on families and suggests that lack of proper sleep may lead to adverse health outcomes.
