A study published in JAMA Network Open found that prenatal diets aligned with U.S. dietary guidelines reduce the risk for slow or rapid infant growth up to 24 months after birth. High Healthy Eating Index (HEI) diets were linked to lower odds of slow or rapid growth, while low-inflammation diets showed inconsistent results. The study included 2,854 parent-child pairs and found that babies born to women with higher HEI scores were less likely to have rapid growth. More research is needed to understand the benefits and risks of low-inflammatory prenatal diets on fetal and infant growth.
