A 35-year-old Indian man was allegedly manipulated into getting a vasectomy in a state government investigation. The man from Navi Sedhavi village in Mehsana district in Ahmedabad was taken to a health center under false pretenses and given a drink that caused him to lose consciousness. When he awoke, the procedure had already been performed without his consent. The incident is under investigation, with the state health minister stating that vasectomies are voluntary and healthcare workers do not have targets to achieve. The Indian government offers sterilization rewards to address overpopulation, with citizens compensated for undergoing the procedure and medical workers for conducting them.
